Man stabbed in Brooklyn subway station

Brooklyn police are investigating the death of a 54-year-old man who was stabbed on a T subway trainTuesday evening.

According to law enforcement, the horrific incident occurred at Coney Island Stillwell on October 29 at approximately 11:20 p.m avenue Subway station on the other side Street from Luna Park and other popular boardwalk attractions.

officers from the 60th District and Transit District 34 responded to a 911 call about an assault at the location. When they arrived, they found the victim sitting in a corner seat on a southbound N train with a stab wound Wound on the back.

EMS responded and quickly transported the man to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation has not yet determined a motive or whether the victim knew his killer(s). Police are still holding the victim's name and are waiting to notify the family.

No arrests have been made so far, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, straphangers at the busy and popular train station raised concerns about public safety on the city's transit system.

“It's very sad. It's really unfortunate. This world is getting worse day by day. Really sad (and) I’m praying for the family,” one commuter said Eyewitness News. “We could always use more police officers. They do their best. I see a lot of police officers at the stations, but there could always be more.”

Despite Tuesday's fatal stabbing, violent crime in the 60th District, including murder, rape and robbery, is down nearly 10% year to date compared to the same period in 2023, according to the latest CompStat report.
