US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti set the dance floor on fire during Diwali celebrations at the embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday. The envoy sang bhangra on stage to the popular Hindi song 'Tauba Tauba' from the film 'Bad Newz'.

In a video of the performance, the crowd can be seen cheering for Garcetti as he grooves to the song.

The original song featuring Vicky Kaushal became an instant hit at the beginning of his year. Mr. Garcetti took the stage in a brown kurta and sunglasses as the audience clapped.

Eric Garcetti has been fully committed to Indian traditions since his appointment in May last year. He celebrated Durga Puja at Chittaranjan Park in Delhi with great enthusiasm and energy. Garcetti visited a pandal at CR Park where he enjoyed traditional Bengali dishes like jhaal muri, aloo chicken biryani, fish curry, luchi and sweets. He even took part in the legendary Dhunuchi Naach, a dance dedicated to Goddess Durga, showing his willingness to immerse himself in the local culture.

The White House also hosted a Diwali celebration this week to recognize the contribution of Indian Americans to US-India relations. Garcetti praised the event and emphasized the importance of Diwali and the invaluable role of Indian Americans.

On October 28, First Lady Jill Biden and President Joe Biden hosted the Diwali celebration and welcomed Indian Americans from across the country. This was their last Diwali celebration in office, and over the years, the Bidens have added their unique touch to this bright tradition.

The White House shared photos from the X celebrations and wished everyone, “Happy Diwali! Together, may we demonstrate the power that lies in gathering the light.” During the event, President Biden extended Diwali greetings, emphasizing the importance of the festival and celebrating his presence at the White House.
