Man points gun at state Sen. Marty Flynn in road rage incident – Scranton Times-Tribune

SCRANTON – State Sen. Marty Flynn told police that another man pointed a gun at him in a traffic accident as he drove onto Interstate 81 South around 11 a.m. on Oct. 16.

As Flynn tried to pull in front of a Dodge Caravan to get out, the driver, identified in a police affidavit as Noah Augustine, accelerated, making it difficult for him to prepare to exit onto the Biden Expressway.

Flynn was able to merge onto Interstate 81 in front of the Caravan in a GMC Yukon, but Augustine drove erratically behind him for about a mile, according to the affidavit.

Flynn told officers he checked the brakes on the Dodge SUV behind him before it pulled into the left lane and drove alongside him.

That's when Austin Augustine, a passenger in the caravan, opened his window, displayed a black handgun, pointed it at Flynn and smiled, according to a police affidavit.

The caravan then sped away from Flynn and exited the Biden Expressway at the Cedar Avenue exit, followed by Flynn.

Police officers stopped the minivan near the exit. During the stop, an officer noticed a black Ruger handgun near the van's center console, according to the affidavit.

Troopers interviews Austin Augustine at the Dunmore State Police barracks.

He admitted pointing a gun at a driver identified as Flynn, cops said.

According to court records, Austin Augustine had not been charged in the incident as of press time.

Flynn, a Democrat, serves residents of the 22nd Senatorial District in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Monroe counties.

State police did not return a call seeking information about the incident.
