Boise crews are containing the vegetation fire in Warm Springs and staying overnight for safety reasons

According to the department, the Boise Fire Department worked quickly to battle a 10-acre brush fire near East Starview Drive on Wednesday afternoon.

Crews gained partial control of the fire at 4:45 p.m., about an hour after it started, according to Ada County Dispatch. Firefighters then said in a post on social media at 5:30 p.m. that the fire had been contained. Emergency services remained on site to “clean up hotspots,” the post said.

Some members of the fire department remained on scene overnight “to ensure there was no fire again,” a spokesman later told the Idaho Statesman.

No injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged.

Officials asked motorists to avoid the area near the intersection of East Warm Springs Avenue and East Barber Drive near the Warm Springs Mesa neighborhood.

“Two homes were initially threatened, but firefighters worked quickly to protect them,” the fire department said in an earlier social media post, noting that no evacuations had been ordered.

Ada County has sent out a Code Red Alert to residents in the area.

The emergency response included five fire engines, four brush machines and a water truck, as well as a bulldozer.

Ada County Dispatch said officials do not yet know the cause.

The emergency services were able to bring the fire partially under control by 5 p.m
