Cornerback Antonio Kite was released from the Auburn roster

AUBURN, Ala. – A starter to begin the 2024 season after losing Tyler Scott to an injury and a hamstring issue by then-starter Keionte Scott, Alabama transfer and first-year Tiger Antonio Kite was fired by coach Hugh Freeze for violating team rules, a source confirms to Auburn Undercover. Because his playing time decreased in recent weeks before being replaced by true freshmen Jay Crawford and Kensley Faustin, Kite was no longer in the player rotation and is no longer with the Tigers.

Kite played in all eight games, with his role largely limited to special teams over the last three weeks, and had a total of six tackles and one interception this season.

His release leaves Auburn even thinner at the position with starters Kayin Lee and Crawford as well as top backup Faustin. Scott is expected to get some work at corner again with redshirt freshman JC Hart, while true freshman Amon Lane-Ganus could also be in line for playing time.
