Death Note: Killer Within is a social deduction game based on the popular anime

Death Note: Killer Within is an Among Us-style social deduction game based on the popular anime, coming to PlayStation and PC on November 5th.

Bandai Namco announced the game, which will be available to PlayStation Plus Essential tier subscribers at no additional cost, as a “social deduction game of life and death for up to 10 players.” Players split into two teams to find out who is Kira, who is L, and who has the Death Note.

The game is presented in the style of the small characters that Near uses towards the end of the anime and manga, with each player embodying one of the toys as they move around the map. “The Death Note is hidden among players, leading to a tense game of cat and mouse until one team overwhelms the other,” said Bandai Namco.

“Each role has its own characteristics that allow you to develop a deep sense of strategy and tactical play. Depending on the role you are assigned, a wide range of strategies can be formulated and each random scenario evolves into a high-stakes tactical game.”

In the action phase, players collect clues and complete tasks. They then meet to find out who Kira is in the encounter phase. This emerges from further details published on the PlayStation Blog. If Kira is eliminated, Team L wins, and if L is eliminated, Team Kira wins.

“If you are Kira, start with the Death Note and use it to eliminate NPCs and other players,” it said. “However, to judge a player you need an ID with the player’s real name. You can get this by staying near a target for a short period of time, but don't act too suspicious or you will be questioned during the encounter phase.”

A trailer has also been released, which fans can watch above, but other than that, it won't be long before players can jump in and try out the game for themselves.
