Driver faces drunken driving charge after killing passenger in wrong-way crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police have identified the victim and suspect in a two-way crash near Boulder Highway.

NSP responded to the incident just before 3 a.m. Oct. 25 where two vehicles collided head-on.

According to police, a black 2023 Toyota Corolla was traveling south in a northbound lane.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Scott.

Officers reported that a silver 2012 Cadillac CTS was traveling northbound in the left lane when they saw the Toyota coming toward them. They tried to move out of the way but ended up bumping into each other.

According to state police, the Toyota's passenger was 18-year-old Marilyn Amilia Rodriguez, who later died of her injuries at the hospital.

Scott was booked into the Clark County Detention Center but is currently being treated at a local hospital.

NSP reports that Scott faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, carrying an open container of alcohol in a car and failing to drive properly on a divided highway.

Scott is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.

Highway patrol officers have investigated 61 fatal accidents so far in 2024.
