Person dead in Woodstock crash

WOODSTOCK, CT (WFSB) – One person was killed in a crash in Woodstock on Wednesday afternoon.

According to State Police, at approximately 5:22 p.m., units responded to the area of ​​Route 198 to a report of an accident involving a car and a utility pole.

The vehicle was traveling south when it left the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. It came to rest against a tree.

The vehicle caught fire shortly afterwards and burst into flames.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The road is currently closed pending an investigation.
