Gavin Lux says Dodgers upset by 2020 World Series comments, talks whirlwind season

This postseason has been unlike any other for Gavin Lux — and with the Los Angeles Dodgers just one win away from bringing the World Series title to Southern California, the second baseman is soaking up every second.

Lux missed all of last season with a knee injury that forced him to undergo surgery during spring training. Missing an entire year has made Lux appreciate this season a little more.

“When you take it away for a whole year, you add a little bit more value to the game with its ups and downs and everything,” Lux said during his press conference on Tuesday. “I would have given anything to be able to play last year and you definitely appreciate that more. But we still have to win a game. Nothing is over until it's over. It's a good team over there. We have to.” It’s not finished yet, so I just have to keep going.

The second baseman was part of the 2020 taxi squad when the Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Arlington, Texas. While the Dodgers saw the title game like any other, many saw it differently because the season was shorter.

Lux is ready to refute this argument.

“I think it’s kind of bugging everyone,” he said of the COVID-shortened season. “We were all in the same situation and still won this year. We were all in the same boat and did the same thing. I personally don't think that's the right narrative, but I think it's a little annoying to everyone that you don't get the recognition you deserve.

“If anything, I think it was probably harder to win this year. However, you want the entire first season just to get the whole story out the window.”

The Dodgers have been the best team in baseball for most of 2024, and no one can argue with that. However, they have reached a new level in the postseason and are not letting up, even though they have a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

“Like I said, we still have to win a game and that's the main thing. You just play it pitch by pitch and it ain’t over ‘til it’s over, as I keep saying.”

“We’re not letting our foot off the accelerator here. We just have to keep going.”
