A man once dubbed “America's Kindest Husband” for making a gushing 15-point list of reasons why he loved his wife is now suspected of murdering her after he died, according to the slain's family Woman sentenced to life in prison for shocking crime against teenager and loved ones.

Timothy Murphy-Johnson, 40, went viral for writing loving messages on his bedroom mirror for his wife Molly to see before she died of an alleged drug overdose during a breakdown in 2017.

But Murphy-Johnson was sentenced to life in prison last month for drugging and holding captive a 16-year-old girl – and Molly's family believes there are eerie similarities to her death, the Times of London reported.

Timothy Murphy-Johnson, once dubbed “America's kindest husband,” is now suspected of his wife's murder after being sentenced to life in prison for a shocking crime against a teenager, according to the murdered woman's family.

Murphy-Johnson, a British-born computer game designer, met Molly on the online dating website OK Cupid in 2012 – but her friends and family quickly became skeptical of their relationship after her death.

Before her death, Molly is said to have told her friends that her husband had raped her and forced her into prostitution as part of an abusive and manipulative marriage, it is said.

Molly also claimed in a court filing obtained by the outlet that he reportedly threatened to kill his wife with an overdose and portray it as a suicide.

“He threatened to kill me (and make it look like suicide)… physically assaulted me by kicking me on the back/stomach, punching my head/arms, pushing me to the ground and grabbing my purse, stole my money and my phone to prevent me from escaping,” the court document read.

Molly eventually withdrew the request.

“I believe that Tim either supplied her with drugs or forced her to do so,” Molly's childhood friend Anna-Marie Anderson told the outlet. “She was brilliant, extremely educated about medication and drugs and in my opinion she wouldn’t act like that.”

Molly's relatives believe Murphy-Johnson manipulated her when, after graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in mass communications and enrolling in a master's degree, she dropped out and moved to San Francisco for her husband's job.

The loving father said his daughter had twice asked him to “save” her from her husband, despite her apparent devotion to him.

“Molly was a bright, beautiful and talented young woman,” her father, Bob Gelman, told the UK Times.

The couple moved to Los Angeles when Murphy-Johnson got another job, but Molly disappeared when she checked herself into a psychiatric hospital to escape her husband.

Molly had to quit her job because she could no longer cover her cuts and bruises.

“Unfortunately, Tim managed to convince her to come back to him,” Gelman said. “She told me that he would groom her – by making her have sex with other men for money.”

Friends investigating Murphy-Johnson's abuse found that she appeared in sexually explicit images on several adult content websites and was described as an “escort,” a “naughty nerd,” and a “college-educated cafeteria member.” Society for people with high IQs was advertised.

Molly took photos of the bruises she suffered and told her friends that she wanted a divorce but was threatened by her husband.

“He [Murphy-Johnson] “I just offered myself a drug that will kill me so I can get this over with already… I guess I'm just making it easier for both of us,” she wrote to a friend.

Molly was found dead in her bedroom on December 16, 2017, with her death ruled an overdose.

Murphy-Johnson announced his wife's death in a post on Facebook.

“My wife, my best friend, the most incredible, beautiful, troubled soul I have ever known, died of mental illness on Saturday morning, hours after being released from a mental health service that had failed her.”

One of Molly's ex-boyfriends claimed to her father that Murphy-Johnson tried to have her cremated immediately but “insisted on an autopsy.”

Molly reportedly took photos of the bruises she suffered and told her friends she wanted a divorce but was threatened by her husband.

There was no response to the report from Murphy-Johnson or his lawyers.

However, one of his family members dismissed claims that he might have been involved in his wife's death as “baseless”.

“Molly had a severe drug addiction to fentanyl, as well as depression and a history of suicide attempts. Tim saved her life more than once… so I don't think he killed her,” the unidentified relative told the British newspaper.

“To be honest, they both thought the other was trying to kill them. It was chaos. “It was a sad, toxic mess, two people with deadly drug addictions and mental illness in a terrible relationship,” the relative said.

“He loved her very much and her death caused him to descend into madness. I can't excuse Tim for anything he's done. I believe he is suffering from serious mental health issues,” the relative said.

“Of course, if there is any evidence to support a claim [that Murphy-Johnson was involved in Molly’s death]then of course it should be sent to the authorities.”
