Our review of Patrick Ta's eyeshadow duos that revolutionized the internet

The saga that lasted beauty world in the storm this week? The new eyeshadow duos from Patrick Ta. Now you may be asking yourself: How the heck can the introduction of an eyeshadow cause controversy? Here's the rundown: Patrick Ta announced the launch, and more TikTok user were outraged by the $42 price tag for two pairs of sunglasses. Patrick came with receipts, compared the price with other brands and explained the premium quality of his product. Oh, and BeautyTok creators Mikayla Nogueria and Jeffree Star weighed in with their opinions, of course. If that's too much and you just want to know if the eyeshadow is really worth the price, then I've come to the right place for you.

I, a shopping editor who tries hundreds of products and has no brand sponsorship, tested the eyeshadows in the name of beauty journalism. No filters, no advertising and definitely no professional makeup artist skills.

First of all, my unfiltered thoughts and the official review of the new Patrick Ta Major Dimension Eye Illusion Eyeshadow Duos. (That's a mouthful.)

Eyeshadow Duo Talk to my team

I absolutely loved the “Talk To My Team” shade. As someone who prefers using my fingers to a brush (due to my lack of makeup knowledge), I found the formula transferred so easily to my lid. In the pan, the paint looked a little pink, but had a surprising orange reflection at certain angles – which I can't complain about, as it looked like I had intentionally added a multichromatic effect without much effort. And in direct sunlight, my entire eye looked super shimmery and sunset-like. The application was really very easy and looks professional.

I love it too comes with a mirror (unlike other single shadow pots) so I didn't apply blindly and hope for the best. However, as the day went on, I noticed that some precipitation was getting into my lashes. It didn't affect the pigment on my eyelid, and that's something I definitely notice with most of my glitter eyeshadows, but there was enough separation to notice.

Eyeshadow duo still in the club

“I've been wearing eyeshadow almost every day since I was 17, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to the quality of an eyeshadow,” says Associate Shopping Editor Meg Uy. “Overall I liked the Still In The Club palette. It has a purple and brown pigment that created a subtle smokey eye on my warm, brown skin. It feels pretty light on the lid and the pigment is solid while it's still there buildable. I like that there is no shimmer to intense, and you can take it to the next level with a few extra layers for a completely glam look. The expensive price is the only thing stopping me from giving it a 10/10 overall, but I loved it and will definitely use it again!”

Eyeshadow Duo Do you know who I am?

“I have swept the deeper shadow Do you know who I am Apply the duo all over my eyelid, dab the lighter shade into the inner corners of my eyes, then add a little of the purple color Still in the club Apply Duo to the outer crease to darken the look,” explains Shopping Editor Hannah Oh. “It was surprisingly easy to get good color payoff with my finger, although I think it would have looked better if I had used some primer and a brush The color options were really beautiful.”

“To be honest, the glitter wasn't as smooth as I expected and there was a fair amount of fallout (again, no primer) within 3-4 hours that I wiped off in the office bathroom. But The actual eyeshadow lasted well! I probably won't come to work with a sparkly smokey eye, but it's definitely a really luxurious, beautiful product for days when I want to go all out with my makeup.”

Eyeshadow Duo We need better lighting

“The pigment here is Next. Level. “I made very little effort here and applied the product directly to my eyelid with my finger,” says co-editor Daisy Maldonado. “It only took two swipes to completely apply the desired color. The silver color in We need better lighting Look bright and has a super nice shine. I love that this shade can be both a subtle everyday look and an exciting moment for special occasions.”

Advantages

  • Easily applied with fingers
  • Can also be used as a highlighter
  • Very pigmented
  • Great color options

Disadvantages

  • On the more expensive side
  • The palettes cannot be customized

The conclusion…

If you're looking for a high-quality glitter shadow, Patrick Ta's version is for you Is this girl. And while two shades are pretty pricey at $42, it's comparable to other luxury beauty brands Charlotte Tilbury (one shade costs $35) or hourglass (One shade costs $30). We also liked all of the color options, but wish we had the option to combine different shades in a customized palette to our liking. All in all, if you want an easy-to-apply shimmer and are willing to spend more money for an even more glamorous and night-time look, cosmos The shopping team would definitely recommend these viral duos.
