South Jackson murder suspect appears in court

JACKSON, Tenn. – Arthur Johnson, who was arrested for the Susan Cove murder in September, had his first court appearance Wednesday morning.

On September 19th at approximately 8 p.m., Jackson Police Department officers were dispatched to a shooting in Susan Cove in south Jackson.

When they arrived, 41-year-old Ryan Mills was found inside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Mills was taken to a local hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Arthur Johnson, 29, was discovered nearby and appeared to be suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was also taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

As of Monday, October 7, Johnson was charged with first-degree murder and is in custody at the Madison County Justice Complex. Johnson made his first court appearance Wednesday morning.

The appearance was quite short as it was postponed for 30 days due to forensic evidence. 30 days from Wednesday is Friday, November 22nd.
