24 more charges against man accused of driving school bus while drunk

CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sunrise Beach man accused of driving a school bus while drunk is facing more than two dozen additional charges.

Brett Emehiser was charged with 43 counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of driving under the influence. The amended complaint was filed Monday. He is not listed on the Camden County Jail roster.

Previously he had only been accused of endangering the welfare of children in 20 cases. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, November 14th at 1 p.m.

Emheiser is accused of drunkenly driving a school bus with at least 20 students under the age of 17 in September.

Court documents in previous reports say witnesses saw the bus swerve and nearly surround other vehicles. The bus was stopped on the side of the road when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper arrived on the scene, court documents say.

Emehiser failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.18, well above the legal limit of 0.08, the probable cause statement said.
