A local business owner, Page Cole, says it's shocking that a woman was killed just feet from his store near Cherry Street.

“It's a little shocking. We're in a great area – Maple Ridge is behind us, there are half a million dollar homes here, we have families walking up and down this street, people walking their dogs,” Cole said.

Cole said his first thought was to check on his employees.

“We see a lot of traffic at the bus stop here on our side of the street. Obviously I'm concerned about the safety of my staff – were they all OK? – and everyone was fine,” Cole said.

Tulsa police said the woman was driving when someone in a car pulled up and shot her.

“It doesn’t seem to be random. We are working on some leads, but we are still at such an early stage in this investigation that we cannot rule anything out at the moment,” said Captain Richard Meulenberg.

Officials said a man on a bicycle saw the woman, ran to a nearby McDonald's and told employees to call 911. Police say they appreciate the quick action and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“This is kind of a crime thriller at the moment. We are still working on some details. It’s an active investigation, we’re trying to put everything together,” Meulenberg said.

According to Tulsa police, this is the city's 43rd homicide this year. They say they have solved 100 percent of the cases so far.
