Teen is accused of stabbing a boy to death at a Peoria High School football game

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) – A 14-year-old boy is facing serious charges after he was arrested nearly two weeks after a stabbing at a Peoria High School football game earlier this month.

The suspect turned himself in to the police on Wednesday. He was booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault.

On the night of Oct. 18, the two boys apparently got into a fight near the bleachers at Peoria High School, near 83rd Avenue and Grand Avenue.

The 14-year-old stabbed the other in the stomach, the police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while the suspect fled the scene.

Police said the recommended charges could be changed.

“Every school’s campus should be considered a safe place and those willing to compromise will be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Peoria police said in a statement.
