LMPD investigates crash on I-264 after driver found dead of gunshot wounds

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – All lanes of I-264 East west of I-64 were closed due to a serious accident on Thursday, October 31, according to a social media post from Louisville Metro Emergency Services.

The crash occurred near the 18 mph mark.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said three vehicles were involved in the accident.

Officers responded to the crash around 4:30 p.m. and found a driver losing control of his car, hitting two other vehicles and then overturning, LMPD spokesman John Bradley said.

Police determined that the driver of the overturned car died from a gunshot wound. The condition of the other drivers involved in the accident is currently unknown.

Bradley said traffic in the area will be impacted while LMPD investigates the shooting and crash.
