Shooting near Red Line CTA station leaves one dead, two injured: police

One man is dead and two others were hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday on the city's North Side near a CTA Red Line station, according to Chicago police.

The incident occurred in the 1600 block of W. Howard at 2:51 p.m.

Three men were near the sidewalk when a vehicle approached and someone inside pulled out a gun and fired several shots at them, police said.

One of the men, 18, was shot in the chest and taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A second victim, 20, was hit in the shoulder and also taken to St. Francis. He is in good condition.

The third victim, 29, was shot in the neck, back and stomach. He was taken to St. Francis, where authorities said he died of his wounds. His identity has not been released.

There have been no arrests in connection with the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
