18-year-old is accused of secretly taking photos in the women's restroom at UNC Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – An 18-year-old was arrested after he was accused of secretly taking photos of people in a women's restroom UNC-Charlotte this week.

According to an arrest warrant, on Wednesday, October 30, Luke Lewis Castaneros used an iPhone to “take a photo of the victims while they were sitting in their stands.”

The same day Castaneros allegedly took the pictures, campus police came forward receive a report of a man banging on the women's room door in Wilson Hall. It is unclear whether Castaneros was involved in the incident.

Court records show he was given a $50,000 bond and has since been released from jail. He appeared in court for the first time on Thursday and waived his right to hire a lawyer. He is scheduled to appear in court again on November 19.

It is unknown whether Castaneros is a student at the university; However, UNC Charlotte has been contacted for further information.
