Heidi Klum's Halloween costume with husband Tom Kaulitz goes viral

Heidi Klum's long-awaited Halloween costume reveal is finally here and this year she and her husband Tom Kaulitz dressed up as ET

Since the early 2000s, the model has gone all out to transform herself into something impressive for the spooky holiday, and her legacy of over-the-top costumes has proven why she's dubbed the “Queen of Halloween.” She then uses the red carpet at her annual Halloween party at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City – now in its 23rd year – to show off her incredible costumes.

This year, Klum and her musician husband both dressed up as an alien from Steven Spielberg's 1982 cult film ET the alienwith Kaulitz transforming into ET as soon as he lands on Earth, and Klum portraying the character after being disguised by the young children Elliot and Gertie. Their faces were not in the alien's face, as one might expect, but were on ET's neck.

Klum's costume was complete with a glowing fingertip and a motorized headpiece that her team could operate remotely. Costume designer Mike Marino narrated The New York Times that both suits were made using 3D printing.

People are always excited to see what the model will dress up as, and this year's costume went viral: “Heidi Klum Halloween Costume 2024” is trending on X (formerly Twitter) and people are also searching for “Heidi Klum husband” .

The Entertainment X account (formerly Twitter) @PopBase shared two photos of Klum's character with the caption, “Heidi Klum dresses up as ET for Halloween.” At the time of writing, it has been viewed 2 million times. The same account also posted a video with the caption “Heidi Klum reveals her Halloween costume,” in which the model transforms into the famous alien. At the time of writing, it had 2.3 million views.

Newsweek wrote an email to a Klum spokesman outside normal business hours on Friday seeking comment

The model told The New York Times that the costume idea came to her a few weeks after Halloween in 2023. Not only that ET the alien Her favorite movie as a child, but she also liked the gender-neutral aspect of the character.

“They don’t have genitals. I like the whole idea that we are all the same,” she said.

At the costume reveal, the couple appeared behind a backdrop at the hotel, with Kaulitz and Klum both using the remote control mechanism to wave and point.

At some point during the party, Klum changed out of her entire costume for an oversized ET top and fishnet stockings, but left the alien's neck as a mask on her face.

Klum had teased the costume on her Instagram and began preparing for her big party in the early hours of Thursday morning. While getting ready, she posted a short video on Instagram in which she wore prosthetics all over her face, but didn't reveal what she was dressing up as.

In the past, Klum has dressed up as everything from the sultry Jessica Rabbit and a Transformer to the werewolf from Michael Jackson's “Thriller” music video and Cleopatra.

“I always try to find things that people naturally wouldn't do,” said the supermodel People in 2023, adding: “Most people are nurses or police officers, but I was always looking for something I hadn't seen before.”

In 2022, Klum entered the Halloween scene transformed into a giant worm that lay on the ground to fully embody her role. Her husband came to her dressed as a fisherman and hooked her on his fishing line.

“I just wanted to be something random,” she explained at the time.

Klum's costumes always require extensive planning. In 2023, she enlisted performers from Cirque du Soleil to support her stunning peacock ensemble, where she proudly displayed her feathers alongside Kaulitz, who was dressed as a complementary egg.

“You have to have an idea… it has to be different. Completely different,” she explained on the red carpet of her party.

“I wanted to do a costume with lots and lots of people. I wanted to have a lot of people and we would all become one. And for me, the one thing I think was the peacock.”
