Baton Rouge man charged with possession of child pornography

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A Baton Rouge man is facing charges for allegedly possessing inappropriate photos of children.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, James S. Burland, 69, of Baton Rouge, is charged with possession of child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Gathe Jr. announced Friday, Nov. 1, that a Bill of Information has been filed against Burland.

According to officials, between November 11, 2022, or approximately April 9, 2023, Burland knowingly possessed material containing images of child pornography involving prepubescent minors under the age of 12.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Office of the Attorney General are investigating this case.
