On October 31st The Breakfast Club Host together with his wife Gia Casey, and their children took to social media to show off their festive Halloween costumes. This year, the famous family paid tribute to the iconic music video for Lil' Kim and Junior Mafia member Lil' Cease's late '90s hit “Crush On You.”

Brooklyn nailed the Grammy-nominated femcee's look and captured every detail from the video.

At the start of the clip, Brooklyn was seen wearing a red fur coat, which she opened to reveal a ripe matching red cutout bodysuit. Brooklyn completed her chic look with a bright red wig, oversized sunglasses and iced-out chains, perfectly embodying Kim's spirit from the iconic image.

As the video continued, the 8-year-old showed off several other colorful outfits inspired by the music video, including a playful green wig paired with a long-sleeved lace top and a striking navy blue wig with oversized blue fur. The whole family joined in, dancing and enjoying the festive atmosphere. Jaxson took on the role of Lil' Cease, while his big sister London played the role of Aaliyah. There are siblings Madison (23), Logan (21), London (11), Jaxson (10) and almost three-year-old Peyton.

The video was intended to be an innocent celebration of creativity and family fun, but social media users raised an eyebrow at the post, deeming Brooklyn's costume “inappropriate” and “shocking.”

A user wrote;

“You definitely didn’t think that was appropriate.”

Another critic noted that it made them uncomfortable to see the adorable 8-year-old reciting Kim's raunchy lyrics from the hit song. Some wondered why Gia didn't step in to portray the famous rap star.

“This is completely inappropriate for a child to wear as a costume and have them sing these suggestive lyrics.”

The video received some praise, but Cardi B commented on the parents' unique Halloween costume idea and Brooklyn's performance.

“She took the assignment very seriously, SHE ATE THAT!!!” commented the rapper.

Envy answered back;

“@iamcardib Man…. She's been practicing… Now she wants to rap!!!”

Another supporter wrote;

“I love it, whatever. Taught my babies everything there is to know about hip-hop culture. Kim is an icon and an entertainer. People take themselves way too seriously.”

DJ Envy ignored naysayers and released more Halloween content

Apparently Envy and Gia are not impressed by the criticism. In fact, the radio host and his wife shared two more videos from their Halloween celebration.

In one clip, her daughter London was seen doing a stunning impersonation of Aaliyah's “One In A Million” music video. In another clip, Envy can be seen playfully scaring his family in a Black Panther costume.

What do you think? Was little Brooklyn's costume inappropriate or are people making a big deal out of it?
