Priceville man charged with murder of ex-wife refuses bail

PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A Priceville man accused of killing his ex-wife was denied bail in an Aniah's Law hearing Friday, according to court documents obtained by WAFF.

Zachery Merriman was arrested after his ex-wife Kimberly Ricks was shot and killed on October 20th. Merriman was initially held in the Lawrence County Jail for assault, burglary, menacing, trespassing and theft of property.

He has since been transferred to the Morgan County Jail following a Priceville Police arrest warrant in connection with Ricks' death.

In a motion filed Friday, Merriman is now requesting a preliminary hearing.

Merriman is charged with murder and remains in the Morgan County Jail.
