Man is charged with sexual assault on a child in Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. (WWNY) – A Franklin County man is accused of sexually abusing a girl in Potsdam.

Village police arrested 29-year-old Cody Snyder of Malone on Thursday.

Snyder's arrest stems from an Oct. 4 complaint.

According to court documents, Snyder sexually assaulted a teenage girl in the village of Potsdam in July. He is accused of pinning her down and covering her mouth with his hand.

Snyder is accused of:

• First degree sexual abuse
• violent touching
• second degree unlawful imprisonment
• criminal obstruction of breathing
• endangering the welfare of a child

Snyder was arraigned in Potsdam Municipal Court and held in the St. Lawrence County Jail on $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond.

The Malone Police Department assisted in the investigation.
