Concert stage at Veterans Park in Milwaukee is being dismantled

The concert-sized stage that was erected Thursday at the south end of Veterans Park in Milwaukee appeared to have been dismantled Friday before it could even be used.

A woman who spoke to a Journal Sentinel reporter at the scene Friday afternoon declined to explain what was going on. She called the area an active construction site.

Several semi-trucks loaded with what appeared to be large pieces of metal could be seen being driven away from the site.

According to an earlier report from the Journal Sentinel, construction began early Thursday.

An electrical permit filed with the city for Veterans Park lists the event description as “Kamala Harris Rally.” Meanwhile, a noise permit for McKinley Marina north of Veterans Park lists “Harris for President” as the “responsible party” and a concert as the purpose of the event. The noise variance permit lists a date range of Wednesday through Monday.

It has since been announced that Harris' Friday rally would be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center. Performances are planned by GloRilla, Flo Milli, MC Lyte, The Isley Brothers and DJ GEMINI GILLY as well as guest speaker Cardi B.

Former President Donald Trump will hold a rival rally just six miles away at Fiserv Forum on Friday evening, with both candidates making a final push in battleground states before Tuesday's election.
