One person is killed in a fatal collision in Orangeburg Co. along I-26

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – One person is dead in a collision on Interstate 26 eastbound in Orangeburg County.

The collision occurred near mile marker 161, about eight miles north of Bowman.

Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover reported the collision occurred Wednesday around 2:24 p.m

Two vehicles were involved. The first vehicle was a 2018 concrete mixer that was traveling in lane one, while the other vehicle, a 1986 Mercedes coupe, was traveling in lane two when it collided with the concrete mixer.

The driver of the cement truck was not injured, but the driver of the Mercedes was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office has not yet released the victim's name.
