Man arrested for drug and child abuse crimes

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A man was arrested on drug and child abuse charges on Friday, October 18th.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of ​​Fairview Church. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the warrant was issued following an investigation into the sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to officers, several items were seized from the apartment, including electronic devices and narcotics.

Michael James Talkington of Christiansburg was arrested and charged with:

• Sexual contact with animals
• Using a Computer to Recruit a Minor
• Possession of child pornography
• Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
• Using computers to commit certain sexual crimes
• Making marijuana
• Marijuana: Possession with Intent to Sell
• Drugs: Possession of Schedule I or II

He is currently being held without bail at the Western Virginia Regional Jail.

Christiansburg police and federal agents assisted.
