Charlotte shows fight against Rice

Box score HOUSTON – In American Athletic Conference volleyball action Friday night, Charlotte showed fighting spirit and lost in three sets to the Rice Owls (16-25, 21-25 and 17-25), who entered the AAC in second place at 8-2 The weekend saw a record break in conference play.

Kristen Birmingham led the Niners with 14 kills and was second on the team with seven digs behind Victoria Santana nine. Audrey Berkebile And Selanny Puente Everyone recorded a solo block Jessica Ricks had two block assists. Charlotte's four team blocks in the game brought the season total to 185, which ranks fifth in the AAC.

Maddie Stuesser provided 24 assists at the start of all three sets and managed a total of five digs. Ricks and Lara Kretschmer Everyone had a service ace. CLT's 129 service aces are tied for fifth in the AAC with Tulsa. Kretschmer leads the team with 27.
