Where is Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis now?

Martha Stewart had a complicated relationship with her daughter Alexis, but everything seems fine now. The Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia mogul and her daughter have spoken openly about their unconventional parenting methods and it seems they have become closer as a result.

Alexis was born on September 27, 1965 in New York City to Martha and Andrew Stewart. Martha and Alexis have expressed very clearly how dysfunctional their childhood was when their mother was in the spotlight. “I think we did a poor job as parents,” Andrew told People. “We were too busy with our professional lives and renovating the house. We have always made home a mythological place. But it wasn’t a home – we didn’t spend enough time with Lexi.”

“Feelings, we didn’t talk about things like that,” Alexis said in the Netflix series Martha. “It wasn’t part of our childhood. We were kind of dullly loved even though we should be loved. I mean, there wasn't a lot of affection in our house.” She even remembered a strange time during the holidays. “She used to let me wrap my own presents,” she wrote. “Right before Christmas she gave me things and said, 'Now pack them up, but don't look in them.'”

Where is Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis now?

Alexis currently lives in New York City after she and her mother purchased a duplex apartment on the Upper West Side for $12.3 million. They live in the Belnord, a block-long luxury apartment building that was used for exterior shots of the Arconia Apartments in Hulu's comedy-mystery series Just murders in the building.

She has two children, a daughter Jude and a son Truman, both of whom she gave birth to via surrogate mother. Martha was truly happy when she learned the news that she would become a grandmother and had always supported her through her fertility issues. She also supports her daughter's decision not to include her in her Netflix documentary. “There’s not even a mention. And these grandchildren are absolutely fantastic,” she told the New York Times. “My daughter was very against the children being involved. But I could have talked about it, and I did. I have taken them to the most unusual places in the world and they are only 12 and 13 years old.”

Alexis was married to attorney John Cuti in an intimate ceremony in New York City. They divorced in 2004, not long after he represented her mother at trial in 2003. Alexis hosted from 2005 to 2010 Whatever with Alexis and Jenniferalongside Jennifer Hutt on SiriusXM's Martha Stewart Living Radio channel. She and Hutt also wrote Whateverland: Learning to Live Here. “Martha makes everything better! You can’t win,” she wrote via People. “If I didn’t do something perfectly, I had to do it again. I grew up with a glue gun pointed at my head.”

But now Alexis seems to be closer to her mother than ever before. “We're incredibly close and we're both very opinionated people,” she said on Today. “So while we can have a good time together, we can also have a lively discussion about something. Because that's normal. So if we agreed on everything, how boring would that be?”
