His alleged body was kept and samples taken for many hours before it was allowed to be buried in one of the cemeteries in Khan Yunis, it is said Asharq Al-Awsat.

The samples confirmed to those responsible for Deif's security that half of the body was his, Hamas sources told the Arabic news source. Nevertheless, doubts were expressed among some of his relatives and family that he had actually been murdered.

However, due to the long period of his absence and the loss of communication with him, it became certain to the leaders of the al-Qassam Brigade that he had actually been killed, the report continued.

Hamas sources said this Asharq Al-Awsat that the delay in announcing confirmation of Deif's death to other Hamas leaders was due to communication difficulties between them amid the current war.

Sources added that two people referred to in the report as “postmen” were also under investigation by Hamas.
