Nicholas Pascazi is charged with the death of Teddy Read in Ontario County, New York

A Rushville man was charged Thursday after he allegedly punched his neighbor in the head during an argument in April, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Nicholas Pascazi, 32, is charged with second-degree manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter and third-degree assault in connection with the death of his neighbor, 55-year-old Teddy Read.

Officers responded to a home on Arnold Road in the town of Gorham on April 14 where Read was found unconscious and with a head injury. Investigators said Pascazi had been involved in an argument with another man when Read tried to intervene. During the altercation, Pascazi allegedly struck Read in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the concrete.

Read was taken to FF Thompson Hospital and then flown by LifeNet helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries on May 5. According to authorities, Read and Pascazi were neighbors and acquaintances.

After his arraignment Thursday, Pascazi was held in the Ontario County Jail and later released on $2,000 bail.

He is scheduled to return to court for further proceedings at a later date.
