Saturday's game between Newcastle and Arsenal had a little bit of everything and in this article we will look at some of the best and funniest football memes following the home team's win.

Arsenal traveled to Newcastle for the Premier League's early kick-off on Saturday afternoon hoping for a win to keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool and Manchester City.

But an attempted header from Alexander Isak after just 12 minutes proved to be the decisive goal of the game.

The Sweden international's early goal ensured all three points remained on Tyneside and dealt a bitter blow to Mikel Arteta's title hopes.

The Gunners' latest defeat, their second of the domestic season, leaves them in third place, four points behind Liverpool and five behind Manchester City, but if other results go against them they could end up up falling back to ninth place over the weekend.

After a brutally disappointing performance from the Londoners, fans are quick to revel in the misery of the Londoners. Check out some of the funniest social media reactions and memes below.

Bitter Arsenal sent a brutal reminder

A controversial decision decided the result in Newcastle's 1-0 win over Arsenal in November last year.

The Gunners felt the ball had just gone out of play in the build-up to Anthony Gordon's goal. A VAR check determined that the ball had remained in play and the goal therefore stood.

And remembering the incident from 12 months ago, Newcastle fans were quick to mock today's opponents by sarcastically saying that Isak's goal shouldn't have stood because the ball would have clearly left the game.

Oleksandr ZinchenkNO

Oleksandr Zinchenko replaced Mikel Merino after 61 minutes and fans were quick to point out that Mikel Arteta should have opted to field Myles Lewis-Skelly instead.

Not livramento for Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli had an afternoon to forget. The Brazilian winger failed to make an impression and fans online were quick to notice.

Compared to Tino Livramento, Arsenal's number 11 was the second best team in all disciplines, including direct sprints.

An X user posted a hilarious video with the caption: “Martinelli is trying to surpass Livramento.”

Saka feels the burning

As well as Lewis Hall, who deservedly received the Man of the Match award, his fellow defender Dan Burn was also excellent.

The 1.95m centre-back kept Bukayo Saka quiet throughout the afternoon as the Arsenal winger's failure to win his individual duels was ridiculed on social media.

Title hopes over… Again

Given that the Gunners were many fans' first choice to win the Premier League this season and last, one fan online lambasted the team for failing to do… Well, anything actually .
