20-year-old accused of trying to kill his ex's new boyfriend

Gabriel Elijah Gilbert, 20, is charged with attempted murder for tracking down his ex's new boyfriend and shooting up his house.

Gilbert appeared in Pierce County Court on Wednesday. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and drive-by shooting.

According to probable cause documents obtained by FOX 13 Seattle, Gilbert had threatened to shoot up the house and tried to pay a mutual friend for the address.

According to the documents, the victim is the boyfriend of Gilbert's ex-girlfriend. The victim lived in a house that belonged to his mother.

According to documents, Gilbert found the house early Tuesday morning, rang the doorbell and began shooting when the victim opened the door.

Investigators said they found at least seven bullet casings and a green laser sight on the ground. According to court documents, Gilbert shot at the door and an upstairs window.

The victim was hit in the arm.

According to court documents, Gilbert fled in a Subaru that he borrowed from his grandmother.

When police arrested Gilbert, he asked if it was shoplifting. He then stated he had nothing to do with the shooting, investigators said.

However, the entire incident was captured on a Ring camera outside the victim's door.
