Reba McEntire wants to join the MCU and we know which character she should play

Reba McEntire may have a new television series in the works at NBC Happy's Placebut the star has his sights set on the big screen – specifically the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In conversation with SiriusXM Hits 1 (via Weekly entertainment), McEntire revealed that she wants to join the MCU and already has an idea of what she wants her superpowers to be, even if it's not what you'd expect. McEntire said she liked the superpower of talking to animals, and it sounds like she's excited about the idea of being a comic book character.

“I would love to do a Marvel comic,” McEntire said. “I want to be like a female Reba McEntire Power Ranger or something in a Marvel movie.”

When asked about her choice of superpower, McEntire replied: “My superpower would be being able to talk to animals. Wouldn’t that be fun?”

Now a few things to consider. Power Rangers is actually a Hasbro property, but Marvel has published comic book adaptations of it Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the late 1990s, but it seems like McEntire's comment was more on the transformative and overpowering aspect of things. There are also a handful of Marvel heroes who can actually talk to animals, including Squirrel Girl, and the MCU has already had a hero who can communicate with creatures – notably Hank Pym, although he uses a device to do so instead of communicating with them “speak”. and it's more of a situation where he controls her.

That being said, we actually have an idea of where McEntire could end up being a good fit for the MCU: Mephisto. Marvel's Devil is a character that fans have been hoping to see ever since WandaVision and more recently there have been numerous theories that Mephistopheles was somehow responsible for certain events in Agatha all the time. But while the character's name was dropped from the Disney+ series – whose finale just aired this week – Mephisto never appeared. With Agatha all the time He further set the MCU up for more magical adventures as the series ended with Billy/Wiccan (Joe Locke) setting off into the world with Ghost Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) to find his lost twin Tommy, and with this series as well introduced Death into the MCU With Aubrey Plaza's Rio, it seems obvious that we'll get Mephisto at some point in the future. And considering we have Tod and Hela (played by Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok) the idea of hiring a Mephisto woman seems like a good chance.

But seriously, imagine this for a moment: three characters, all somehow tied to ideas of hell, death and magic, portrayed by three very different female actresses, just seems like an intriguing opportunity. And while McEntire is known for her comedic work with her current series Happy's Place In addition to her previous sitcom Reba, McEntire can also do dramas. She starred in the third season of the ABC crime thriller Big sky where she played the character Sunny Barnes. Of course, that doesn't mean McEntire couldn't inject a little humor into Mephisto. While the character in comics tends to be sadistic and cruel, we've already seen darker characters have a sense of humor, particularly in Agatha Harkness. McEntire could do it – and it would be more interesting than just talking to animals.

As for McEntire's current project, Happy's Placethis series airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
