Russell Westbrook's alley-oop dunk in Nuggets Jazz goes viral

The Denver Nuggets will be without star point guard Jamal Murray, who suffered a concussion in the second half of Friday night's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Murray is out for Saturday's game against the Utah Jazz and has not yet been cleared to return.

17-year NBA veteran Russell Westbrook got the start at point guard in Murray's absence on Saturday. Westbrook has plenty of experience starting at the NBA level, as this will be his 1,040th. Started career in 1,168 career games.

In the first half of that game against Utah, Westbrook threw down an alley-oop dunk that went viral on social media.

This video from the Nuggets received over 100,000 views in the first hour of its release. Westbrook is one of the most popular players in the NBA. His highlights regularly go viral on social media.

The Nuggets signed Westbrook in free agency this summer after the nine-time NBA All-Star was acquired by the Jazz following a trade with the LA Clippers. Westbrook spent two seasons with the Clippers after his time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Westbrook primarily serves as Murray's backup and is a capable starter for Denver if he needs to fill that role. Denver has had its ups and downs to start the season, but they have a new-look team that will take some time to build chemistry between them.
