Shabaz Masoud beats Liam Davies on a split decision take the IBO super bantamweight belt.

THIS IS MY MOMENT – MASOUD

MASOUD WINS A SPLIT DECISION!

Masoud wins on two scorecards 116-112 and 115-113, with one judge controversially scoring the bout 115-113 for Davies.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 12

Davies is dominant in the first minute of the round but Masoud then begins to land clean shots as his opponent fatigues. Davies then lands a right hand in the final twenty seconds and again at the end but Masoud lifts his arms up as the bell rings.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 11

The referee marcus McDonell for the umpteenth time warns Davies but no point deduction. Masoud had the better of the early part of the round and though Davies did good work late on it probaboy was not enough to get the ten points. Davies’ corner tell him he needs a knockout.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 10

Davies comes out strongly and forces Masoud back early. He also rocks his opponent in the mid-point of the round. From this ppoint Masoud has control, replying with perfect one-twos. A wonderful straight left, right hook catch Davies flush again.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 9

Davies is warned for back chat and immediately he then walks on to yet another straight left hand from Masoud. Davies has success, especially with a left hook which seemed to hurt Masoud, but the Maverick recovered landing numerous flush shots in the last minute of the round. It really has been a masterful performance from him.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 8

Masoud lands flush early and though Davies has a few good moments landing with his opponent backing up against the ropes, he probably caught more shots in that round than he did in any other of the fight.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 7

Carl Frampton is explaining well why Masoud is landing so cleanly at times. It is due to his superior footwork. When Davies does crowd his opponent, he is not landing quality. Both fighters get a warning, Masoud for holding and Davies hitting the back of his opponent’s head. Another Masoud round.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 6

Davies lands his best shot of the fight and seems to force Masoud back, rather than the challenger doing so of his own accord. Masoud still lands a beautful straight left hand off the ropes in the final seconds, but this is probably Davies’ first round.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 5

The referee warns Davies for a low blow for the third time. You cant see the fight reaching the distance without Davies losing a point. Davies has a bit more joy in this round, crowding Masoud but whereas some of his winging shots may land in a glancing manner, Masoud’s counters are hitting their target flush.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 4

Masoud is so accurate with his left hand. He can’t miss Davies with his shots, whether they are to head or body. There is a little blood by Davies’ right eye. Another problem for him.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 3

It feels like Davies expected Masoud to fold under his power and the underdog is so confident in there. His two wins over his opponent in the amateurs giving him confidence. He is 3-0 up here.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 2

Davies lands a few body shots early on but Masoud again lands the cleaner shots, though they have less sting in them. Davies gets warned for use for use of elbow for the second time. A point deduction is not far away. Masoud again ends well with a clean right hook.

DAVIES-MASOUD: ROUND 1

Masoud landing cleanly in the first minute and each time it gets a roar from the crowd. Davies is not landing as much. A big right hook got Davies off balance in the final thirty seconds. A big round for the challenger.

SOMEONE’S O HAS TO GO….

Masoud is 13-0 (4 KOs) while Davies is 16-0 (8 KOs). Davies has fought at a higher level as a pro, but Masoud beat him twice as an amateur. There were suggestions Davies looked a little tight at the weight yesterday. Masoud is the three-to-one underdog, which seems a little big. Here we go….

CAMERON KEEPING EYE ON TAYLOR-SERRANO

LET’S HOPE THE FIGHT INTENSITY MATCHES THE HEAD TO HEAD

DAVIES AND MASOUD ON THE SCALES

Watch how our main event combatants weighed in yesterday.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 10

Berghult energetic early in the round, but Cameron lands a big counter right hand and then another with her opponent back on the ropes. A comfortable victory for Cameron.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 9

Berghult lands a few more shots in this round, but they have little effect on Cameron, though maybe will get her a round from a sympathetic judge.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 8

You have to respect the way Berghult is standing in there. She takes another powerful shot flush, this one a right hook but hardly wilts.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 7

Cameron is pacing herself well through each round, she lands an overhand right which Berghult takes well, then takes a breather, before ending the contest with hurtful right hook downstairs.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 6

It is just one-way traffic now. Cameron is forcing her opponent backwards with accurate one-twos and then landing hurtful body shots in close.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 5

Cameron steps up the pace and traps Berghult against the ropes landing a painful-looking straight one-two.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 4

Cameron remains in control with Berghult unable to keep her feet and land with any purpose.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 3

Cameron hurts Berghult again with a left hook and is generally in control of proceedings, though the Swede is very competitive in there.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 2

A more even affair, but Cameron still jabbing well and Beghult has swelling on her left cheek where she has been landing.

CAMERON-BERGHULT: ROUND 1

Cameron came out of her corner on a mission and quickly forced Berghult backwards after landing a good right hand, winning the round comfortably.

CAMERON-BERGHULT NEXT…

Our co-main event. This is how they weighed in yesterday.

ESSUMAN: I WANT ENNIS

“I told Frank (Warren) he’s got to stop sending me these young fighters, I’m derailing their careers,” Essuman said on TNT Sports.

“I want ‘Boots’ Ennis. I want the five-v-five treatment. I’ll come back with the belt.”

ESSUMAN WINS A MAJORITY DECISION!

He won 97-93 and 97-94, with one judge scoring the bout a 95-95 draw.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 10

Early on Essuman lands with a sharp right uppercut inside, but Vaughan comes straight back forcing his opponent backwards and landing with winging hooks downstairs. The rest of the round is like the fight, Essuman landing flish with right hands but Vaughan throwing leather whether it landed or not. A fight of the year contender.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 9

The doctor checked Vaughan’s eye before the start of the round and he is passed to continue. He cannot be seeing Essuman’s left hooks surely. But despite this Vaughan wins the round, punishing his opponent with straight right jabs and landing some lefts off it.

GONE IN 24 SECONDS!

Taylor wasted no time in collecting his seventh stoppage victory.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 8

Howard Foster has a look at Vaughan’s right eye before the start of the round but allows him to continue. Essuman again lands clean repeatedly with clean right hands. Although Vaughan’s effort wil not relent, it is difficult to see him turning the fight back in his favour.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 7

For a while it looked like Vaughan was on the brink as Essuman continued to land uppercuts and a brutal left hook which forces the Bomber backwards. After a little respite, Vaughan then resumes being the aggressor, but he is not landing as cleanly now and his face is a mess.

A FINE PROFESSIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT DEBUT

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 6

It is a hard fight to call. Vaughan is throwing more and the aggressor. But Essuman is blocking a lot and in every round has landed his right hand cleanly. In this round he added uppercuts in close too.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 5

This time it is Essuman who has Vaughan rocking as he catches him with a counter right hand which saw the Bomber walk backwards a little wobbly. It does not dishearten Vaughan who still looks to walk down his opponent. It really is a stellar effort from both men.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 4

Both lands good shots but Vaughan ends it very strong with a couple of body shots, and maybe one a little below the belt, seeing Essuman visibly wilt.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 3

It really is a fantastic fight. For much of the round, Essuman was the cleaner but Vaughan in the last minute landed some big shots with a left cross landing flush on the champion’s chin. He took it pretty well in fairness.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 2

Vaughan walking onto too many shots and Essuman sends the Bomber backwards with repeated counter right hands, damaging Vaughan under his right eye. Essuman happy to box, while Vaughan charges forward, but it is the former who lands cleaner and he wobbled the challenger in the last minute. Vaughan ends the round on Essuman’s chest landing blows. A fantastic fight.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN: ROUND 1

Both fighters swinging from the bell with Vaughan slightly getting the better of it, forcing Essuman backwards, but the title-holder also landing some counter right hands.

‘DAYDREAM BELIEVER’ AN INTERESTING WALKOUT TUNE

Ben Vaughan’s choice. Quite d departure from Ezra Taylor’s DMX.

ESSUMAN-VAUGHAN NEXT…

They contest the WBO European title.

‘I WANT A BRITISH TITLE’

TAYLOR STOPS BULMEISTARS IN ROUND 1!

Taylor stops his opponent after 24 seconds with a counter-right hand catching the Latvian cold and the referee judging he was not capable of continuing when he got to his feet.

TAYLOR ENTERS ARENA TO DMX…

‘X gon’ give it to ya’, that gets a thumbs up from me. His opponent Kristaps Bulmeistars has a record of 12-2 (5 KOs).

EZRA TAYLOR UP NEXT…

He is 9-0 (6 KOs) and is looking to show he belongs in the conversation amongst the stacked British light-heavyweight division.

JAMES WINS ON POINTS!

James wins 99-92, 99-91 and 97-93 on the judges’ scorecard.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 10

James moving around the ring, the fans from Wolverhampton cheer on their man as Osbourne-Edwards swings from the fences but is caught more by his opponent in the tail end of the round.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 9

James had the better of most of the round, but Osbourne-Edwards had some moments in the middle parts. Osbourne-Edwards looks resigned in the corner.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 8

Blood is pouring from Osbourne-Edwards’ head but he did some effective work in that round and got a bit closer to James.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 7

Unless something dramatic happens it us unlilely we will see anuthing but a wide James points decision here.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 6

For the first time James is forcing his opponent backwards. Almost exclusively in the southpaw stance, his shots to the body and straight left hands are having their effect on Osbourne-Edwards.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 5

James is dominating the contest and looks like building up a big lead in the second half of the contest.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 4

A nasty cut has developed over the eye of Osbourne-Edwards. It would seem to have come from a clash of heads. Expect James to remain southpaw now with a target to aim at.

A MEMORABLE RING WALK…

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 3

James getting into his rhythm now and controls the round with his jab, both from orthodox and southpaw stances.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 2

Osbourne-Edwards lands a couple of straight left hands, though he gets a warning for a low blow. James comes back with a nice left hook at the end of the round and also lands with numerous jabs in the second half of the round.

JAMES-OSBOURNE-EDWARDS: ROUND 1

Neither are renowned punchers but you wouldn’t know it from the way Osbourne-Edwards is launching shots at James. His aggression probably edges the round in his favour.

WELTERWEIGHTS UP NEXT…

Eithan James (12-1) and Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards (11-0, 1 KO) battle with a shot at the English welterweight title as the reward for the winner.

WILLIAMS STOPS GRIGGS IN ROUND 2!

A chopping right hand from Williams puts Griggs down and though he got to his feet, Williams continued to land to head and body and with the opponent sinking into the ropes after eating a straight right and left uppercut, the referee stepped in.

WILLIAMS-GRIGGS: ROUND 1

Williams dominated from the off with his lightning jab and a right hand, left hook combination visibly wobbled Griggs just before the mid-point of the round, but the opponent managed to stay upright all the way to the bell.
