Texas Tech upsets No. 11 Iowa State, 23-22

AMES, Iowa (KCBD) – The Texas Tech Red Raiders ended a two-game losing streak as they defeated the No. 11 Iowa State Cyclones 23-22 on the road in Ames, Iowa.

The Red Raiders (6-3, 4-2 Big 12) are now bowl eligible with their sixth win of the year. This is Texas Tech's first win over a top 11 team in the country since the Red Raiders defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in 2011.

Just under 20 seconds before the end of the game, Tahj Brooks scored the decisive touchdown. He ran for 122 yards on 25 carries that day against the Cyclones (7-1, 4-1 Big 12).

Behren Morton threw for 237 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Josh Kelly had eight catches for 127 yards and caught both of Morton's touchdown passes.

The Red Raider defense had two sacks with six tackles for a loss. They were also able to intercept a pass.

Joey McGuire has now led Texas Tech to three bowl games since taking over the program in 2022. This is the Red Raiders' fourth consecutive bowl-eligible season.

Texas Tech hosts Colorado next Saturday in Lubbock. Kick-off time is 3 p.m
