Lubbock is under a flash flood warning until 12:15 a.m

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Updated at 9:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southeast Lubbock County until 12:15 p.m

Updated at 8:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lubbock and much of Lubbock County, SE Hockley, NE Terry and NE Lynn counties until 9:15 p.m

Gusts of 60 mph and 1 inch of hail are possible.

Another severe storm is moving further south toward Lamesa in Dawson County.

Updated at 3:15 p.m. Scattered showers and thunderstorms moving across the area may result in further flooding. Lubbock has received between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain so far. A few storms may become severe this afternoon, with hail and gusty winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Lubbock and the South Plains until 5 a.m. Sunday.

There is greater instability further south. A tornado warning is in effect for southeastern New Mexico and the Permian Basin until 9 p.m. CT. This includes Lea, Gaines and Dawson counties. Previous update, Saturday morning:

The main danger is flash flooding, but hail up to the size of a golf ball and gusty winds of up to 70 miles per hour are also the main danger. Tornadoes are possible but not expected.
