Lightning kills 13 children in Palabek refugee camp

According to police, 13 children and one adult were killed in a lightning strike in a refugee camp in Uganda.

They say the victims were attending a church service Saturday evening when lightning struck. Another 34 people were injured.

The incident occurred in the Palabek refugee settlement in the northwest of the country. The area recently experienced heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Uganda Police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke told BBC News that the adult killed on Saturday was 21 years old. Mr. Rusoke did not disclose the exact ages of the deceased children.
