Canton man accused of robbing and assaulting ex-wife at gallery night: NorthEscambia.com

A Cantonment man is accused of assaulting and robbing his ex-wife during a recent Gallery Night event in downtown Pensacola.

Marcus Romaro Anderson, 41, was charged with aggravated assault, robbery, theft and criminal mischief of $1,000 or more. All charges are felonies.

The victim told Pensacola police that Anderson contacted her via text message and wouldn't leave her alone, and he was upset because she blocked his number. They had been married for 20 years but not divorced and a domestic violence restraining order had expired.

While walking with friends at Gallery Night, the victim was attacked by Anderson in front of 121 South Palafox, according to an arrest report. According to an arrest report, Anderson struck his ex-wife on the right cheek with his clenched fist before snatching her iPhone 14 Pro Max and smashing it. He then grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground, police said. A security guard in the area witnessed the incident, the report states, took the phone from Anderson and returned it to the victim.

The victim's shoulder was broken during the incident, the report continued.

Anderson remained in the Escambia County Jail Thursday with bond set at $15,000.
