Man dies as a result of his injuries after an accident with a pedestrian

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (KAIT) – A Crittenden County man died from his injuries following a pedestrian accident.

Arkansas State Police said the accident occurred at 7:02 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at the intersection of East Broadway Avenue and 14th Street.

According to the fatal crash report, 54-year-old Willie Payne of West Memphis was walking across the street when an unknown driver in a 2006 Dodge Ram “for unknown reasons” passed Payne and struck him.

Payne was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

ASP said the unidentified driver was uninjured.
