19-year-old from Flanders dies in accident on Route 80 in Denville

A 19-year-old man was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in Denville early Sunday morning, New Jersey State Police reported.

Cameron Ray, of Flanders, was driving a Subaru passenger car westbound around 5:40 a.m. when he drove onto the right shoulder and struck the rear of a Chevrolet box truck that was parked on the shoulder.

Ray was killed and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, said Sgt. Charles Marchan, a state police spokesman. The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available, Marchan said.

The incident was the first of two fatal crashes Sunday morning in North Jersey. In the other incident, a tow truck driver was killed just before 11 a.m. while loading a disabled vehicle on Route 19 near the I-80 eastbound ramp to Exit 57 in Paterson.
