Each week during the 2024 NFL season, I will cover two rookies in the Rookie Report Card and generally write about that week's standout players. I discuss how well he has met expectations at the NFL level and then evaluate the player in three categories: past performance, rookie season potential and long-term potential.

Ladd McConkey, WR LAC

Week 8 stats: 6 receptions on 6 targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Ladd McConkey exploded in Week 8, producing nearly 30% of his season total against the Saints. He set a season high in receptions, yards and touchdowns despite scoring the second fewest times this season. Entering Week 9, McConkey has emerged as the Chargers' best weapon in the passing game, leading the team in all receiving categories.

During McConkey's redshirt freshman year, he was second on national champion Georgia's team in receptions, yards and touchdowns – behind only Brock Bowers, while surpassing fellow NFL receivers Adonai Mitchell and Jermaine Burton on the same team. He was able to build on this performance even more than in his second year, winning his second national championship, tied for the team lead in touchdowns and was once again only behind Bowers in receptions and yardage. He fell behind in stats as a junior, largely due to McConkey's back and ankle injuries.
