Live Thread: Colts at Vikings on “Sunday Night Football”

The Minnesota Vikings (5-2) host the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) in a Week 9 Sunday Night Football matchup. These two teams have met 27 times in their team history, with the Colts going 17-8-1 in the regular season and 1-0 in the postseason, winning six of the last seven meetings.

The Vikings are looking to get back to winning ways after losing to the Detroit Lions in Week 7 and then being unable to escape the Lions hangover when they lost to the Rams last week. Sam Darnold, who has a habit of holding the ball too long, will have to avoid a strong Colts pass rush and hope to take advantage of a disappointing secondary.

Meanwhile, the Colts are at the forefront of recent NFL drama, having benched second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson — after he withdrew from the game mid-drive last week — and replaced him with 39-year-old quarterback Joe may have replaced Flacco for the remainder of the season. Yikes. Flacco takes over the starting role and immediately gets one of the NFL's best defenses, which will look to prove itself after two difficult outings.

Betting line and tip for the game

The folks at FanDuel Sportsbook have named Minnesota as the favorite and set the betting limit at Vikings -5.5 points.

I would have sided with the Vikings in this game before the Colts switched quarterback positions, and I feel like the Minnesota defense will be in an even better position to bring home the win.

Prediction: Vikings 24-16
