Starlink is quietly ending its $100 discount for new customers

It's been a month full of price increases for Starlink. After increasing the price of its satellite dish from $249 to $349 last week, the company has now also lowered its $100 “regional savings discount.”

Previously, 29 states were eligible for the discount, which Starlink described as “abundant network availability,” including Arizona, California, New York and Pennsylvania.

Mention of these states has now been removed from Starlink's Regional Savings support page. It now states that only Canadian customers are eligible for the discount. The news was first reported by PCMag, which is owned by CNET's parent company Ziff Davis.

The discount was a relatively new addition to Starlink pricing and was rolled out in 28 states in June. At the time of launch, the discount was $200. Since then, the price of the satellite dish has dropped from $599 to just $199 in states with “ample network availability.”

The price of the Starlink standard kit has now settled at $349 for everyone – well, almost everyone. Starlink recently imposed a one-time $100 congestion fee for new users in some areas.

“Our intention is to stop charging new customers this fee once network capacity improves,” Starlink’s website says. If you would like to avoid this fee, you can enter your email address to be notified when the fee is removed.
