The Lions fight through the rain and the loud Lambeau crowd to beat the Packers

There were some who believed that the Detroit Lions, who played their first road game of the season on Sunday, would not be as dominant as they have been all season with a record of 6-1.

Well, make that 7-1, as the Lions dominated their NFC North rival Green Bay Packers in the rain to retain the top spot in the division with a 24-14 win.

It may have only been a 10-point difference, but in this sloppy game due to the weather, the Lions had the ball on both sides the entire game.

And the tone was set as the Lions stepped off the bus as star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown wore a black hoodie with “GREENBAY SUCKS” written on the front, showing just how heated this rivalry is.

St. Brown also backed up his trash talk, scoring the game's first touchdown with a hard grab in the front left of the end zone to take a 7-3 lead. This time he didn't do the “Lambeau jump” after last year's attempt resulted in a Packers fan pouring beer on him.

Instead, St. Brown, who rushed for 56 yards on seven receptions, did a headstand to the astonishment of his teammates.

But in rainy conditions, the Lions' two-headed monster in the backfield of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs had a combined 138 rushing yards, with the latter reaching the end zone on a 4th-and-1 play in the third quarter, which resulted in the only touchdown of the second Halftime for Detroit.

Montgomery finished the game with 73 yards on 17 carries, while Gibbs had 65 yards on 11 touches on the ground.

For the Packers, Jordan Love threw for 273 yards but failed to find the end zone all night. However, he threw an interception that cost his team six points.

Towards the end of the first half, Kirby grabbed Joseph Love as he tried to pass the ball to running back Josh Jacobs. And Joseph managed once again to give his team a 17-3 lead.

The Lions, who got the ball early in the second half, saw Gibbs reach the color flag, and the 24-3 lead showed everyone what they might have already thought: This is the top team in the NFC.

Detroit got it done in many ways, but it was the Packers who looked better in the stats, as Jacobs had 95 rushing yards on 13 carries, while Jayden Reed had a game-high 113 receiving yards on five catches, including a 41-yarder.

The only touchdown scored for the Packers came from Emanuel Wilson, who rushed in from two yards out with 3:49 left in the fourth quarter.
