The first weekend of November is over and I'm sick. Not sick like a dog, but very congested with a slight cough. This makes breathing a little difficult, especially at night. Luckily I don't have a fever or a sore throat. It's a bearable cold. Something to comment on, but not object to.

However, it may have had an impact on my word solving today as I didn't do particularly well! Let's move on!

As you can see, I didn't do well in today's guessing game. CAPER left me with a few hundred options and HOIST whittled that down to 29, which is still way too many. I tried something off the beaten path with FUNGI, but in hindsight it wasn't the best guess either. WINDY only left me with one thing left, for tip #5: VINYL for the win! Finally!

Just like yesterday, I get -1 for guessing five and -1 for losing to the bot that took four tries today. -2 hurts!


How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing 1 is worth 3 points; guessing 2 is worth 2 points; guessing 3 is worth 1 point; guessing 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; Guessing on 6 is -2 points and missing the wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running list or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today's Wordle etymology
