FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Investigators are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in a crash that killed an 18-year-old in Fresno County.

It happened on Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue after 9 p.m. Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man was driving a Camaro northbound on Highway 41 when he ran a red light and collided with a Nissan SUV.

There was a 34-year-old woman and two children in the vehicle.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The two children are reportedly doing well.

According to investigators, after colliding with the woman's car, the 18-year-old also crashed into a light pole, splitting the vehicle into two parts.

A portion of Highway 41 and Mountain View Avenue was closed while the scene was investigated.
