The group is renewing the fight against the city's McAllister Park Greenway plan

A long-standing city plan for a new greenway will convert a popular nature trail in McAllister Park into a paved path starting in 2027 – but some residents are still fighting for an alternative route.

While this new greenway project was approved by the City Council in 2021, several Friends of McAllister Park members are still pushing, years later, to change the Mud Creek Loop preservation plan to leave it in its natural state for hikers and cyclists can be.

The friends said they would rather see the path relocated nearby so that it runs under the park's existing power lines – a route they have dubbed the “Pollinator Powerline Pathway.” But city staff say this alternative route simply isn't feasible.
