Khalil Rountree shows battle scars from Alex Pereira Fight

A month removed from UFC 307, Khalil Rountree Jr. is still recovering from his epic title fight with Alex Pereira.

A member of the UFC roster since 2016, having appeared on season 23 of The ultimate fighterRountree went on a sensational five-fight winning streak starting in 2021 to put himself in the conversation for a light heavyweight title shot.

Rountree's year got off to a rocky start when he self-reported that he had taken a tainted supplement and received a suspension that scuppered a planned fight with Jamahal Hill, but in an unexpected move the UFC decided to sign the 34-year-old after his return straight into a title fight against Pereira.

“War Horse,” a prohibitive underdog heading into the main event of UFC 307, impressed fans with the way he stalked the champion in the early rounds before Pereira landed more punches late in the fight, finishing the challenger with one brutal finishing sequence stopped the fourth round.

Rountree's face sustained significant damage during the fight and the light heavyweight contender showed off his scars from UFC 307 in a recent post on his Instagram account.

“War Horse” certainly deserves a little time off after his first UFC title fight, but after Pereira also hinted that he wants to get some rest after UFC 307, “Poatan” recently teased fans with his new look Don at the weigh-in when he will next be booked to defend his light heavyweight title.

The current expectation is that No. 1-ranked Magomed Ankalaev will finally fight for light heavyweight gold next after his win over Aleksandar Rakić at UFC 308, but since Pereira has already fought three times in 2024, fans will likely have to wait until Wait at least until the next day of the year when this match can be booked.
