Biden is missing from the campaign trail in his home state after a viral “gossip” gaffe

On the eve of Election Day, the spotlight is on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as both candidates battle it out for the final votes in the battleground state at a variety of rallies and campaign stops.

However, President Biden, who was born in the Keystone State, has already wrapped up his campaign for the Harris ticket and will no longer be on his vice president's list of campaign events in his old backyard.

Harris' Monday schedule includes campaign events in Scranton, Allentown and Reading, as well as a rally in Pittsburgh before her final speech to Pennsylvania voters during a rally in Philadelphia on Monday night. At various times throughout the campaign, the vice president will be joined by supporters and surrogates such as second gentleman Doug Emhoff, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a long list of celebrities including Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey.

Pennsylvania is also a key battleground state this cycle and will likely determine the outcome of the overall election. Biden won the Keystone State in his successful 2020 race after Trump won the state in 2016 while running against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Biden was born in Scranton and lived there until he was 10, with the Biden family having deep roots in the area and throughout the state.

Biden's great-grandfather, for example, Edward Francis Blewitt, was a fixture in Scranton at the turn of the century. He served as chairman of the St. Patrick's Day parade in 1897, was elected to the State Senate in 1906, and co-founded the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Scranton in 1908. Some 100 years later, the last of his great-grandson's name is emblazoned on street signs and has become synonymous with the city itself.

But Biden is not scheduled to join Harris in her final pitch to Keystone voters — or anywhere else in the campaign — after he delivers his final Harris stump speech in Scranton on Saturday.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and Harris campaign to inquire about Biden's absence from his home state in the final stretch of the election, but received no response.

Biden reflected on his love for Pennsylvania and Scranton as he spoke to union members Saturday in his final remarks in support of Harris' campaign.

“Scranton becomes part of your heart,” Biden said. “It creeps into your heart. It's real. It's not an exaggeration. It's not a joke. It’s real.”

However, the event was punctuated by a viral moment about “macho guys” and Biden's apparent desire to “beat up” Republicans.

“Trump and his Republican friends want to do something else: They want another huge tax cut for the rich. I know some of you are tempted to think they are macho guys,” he said Saturday.

“But I'll tell you what, man, when I lived in Scranton, I said, 'Do you remember how we had a little trouble going down to The Plot every now and then?' Green Ridge. But I'm serious. This.” [are] “The kind of guys you’d want to punch in the ass,” Biden continued.

INDEPENDENTS RESPOND NEGATIVELY TO BIDEN’S “RUBBY” COMMENTS IN REAL TIME

The comments drew ridicule on social media as critics argued Biden was deliberately trying to undermine the Harris campaign, comparing it to when Biden claimed Trump supporters were “trash” last month.

“I’m not sure I would have Joe on the campaign trail now. I will miss the Bidenisms,” said editor-in-chief of the Foundation for Economic Education Jon Miltimore remarked.

“I wonder if @flotus 'pushed' an otherwise silent @JoeBiden forward in the final days of the campaign to talk shit and undermine the efforts of @TheDemocrats and @KamalaHarris in exchange for her man dismissed without further ado? No, it's probably all just a coincidence,” CNN commentator David Urban joked.

Meghan McCain agreed: “He is intentionally trying to hurt Harris and no one can convince me otherwise at this point.”

Biden will leave office on January 20 after being committed to running for re-election at the start of the 2024 election cycle. That plan began to unravel over the summer as concerns grew about the president's mental capacity and age following repeated blunders on the campaign trail and in his official role as commander in chief.

Biden's presidential debate against Trump in June officially opened the floodgates for traditional Democratic allies, who joined a chorus of calls for Biden to drop out of the race and pass the torch to a younger generation.

As Harris traverses the Keystone State, former President Trump has also focused on Pennsylvania. Trump is holding rallies in Reading and Pittsburgh on Monday, as well as a rally in North Carolina and another in Michigan on Monday evening.
